BACKGROUND
Gail Golden was born in Montana and spent her summers on horseback and mountain bike exploring the back country of the West. After receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Montana in 1986, she came to New Mexico to teach skiing "for one season"--and never left. She says, "I immediately fell in love with the landscape, traditions and diversity of Taos. Here, every day is a new creative adventure."In her jewelry design, Gail emphasizes historical archetypes and organic form. She also uses bold color and texture combinations for visual impact. She won the Taos Open's "Best of Jewelry" award in 2002, and has exhibited in the Taos Invites Taos art show since 2004.
Gail has worked in many media including printmaking, computer graphic design, and illustration. Jewelry is the latest expression of her creativity. She loves being able to blend her athletic and artistic sides into one medium. "Jewelry making is about having a physical relationship with your work. I love the process of transforming raw materials into a three-dimensional expression of beauty and elegance."
